We offer handmade collars, leashes and more.
Hi, my name is Dori and this is my girl, Rua Laoise (pronounced “Lee-sha”)! I am a California native and we live in the beautiful Bay Area.
We (I use “we” as Rua is the inspiration for this) started making KangaRua collars back in 2012. Please read the “rest of the story” below!
Rua’s Story
Here is a brief look at Rua’s early years.

My little girl comes home
It all started when this gorgeous little red-haired girl came home on September 24th, 2010.

On her best behavior
Rua is a miniature F1B Goldendoodle (3/4’s poodle and the rest Golden Retriever). As she got older, her “hair” got longer and her “small” collars got lost. (She’s soo cute.)

Olympic contender?
As any other obsessive compulsive dog mom, I worked hard to give my “girl” a better life. That included agility training. Yes, in my living room, I had weave poles, obedience jumps, tire jump (all that I had made myself) and a tunnel!

The inspiration behind KangaRua
One day when I was training Rua (I didn’t do too well at it), I left a bag a training treats on the counter (not on the edge) and left the room for a short while.
I came a little later to find the empty baggie on the floor with not a treat left in it. I couldn’t understand how she had managed to get them. So, I put another bag of treats on the counter and watched her. It took her about 3 “jumps”, but she managed to get them.
I started calling her “KangaRua” as she reminded me of a kangaroo when then jumped.
To make a long story short...
I decided to make collars for Rua. Pretty soon, I was making collars for family and friends. And, when you put the pieces all together, you get KangaRua | Collars, Leashes & More!
